Austin Handley, a Springfield native and true Ozarkian, is Springfield Music’s operations and sales manager. He has over 30 years musical experience, immersing himself in a variety of instruments from string to percussion, as well as exercising his talents through his vocal abilities. He began his musical adventures at six, playing piano, advancing to choir and violin just three years later, learning guitar at age 11 and topping off his instrumental repertoire with drums at age 13.
As an adult, Austin went on to study studio recording with Justin Risley and Jim Wirt at 4th Street Studios in Santa Monica, CA. His early musical pursuits paid off, and as a young adult and he began touring with Hurry Sundown, performing over 200 shows a year at venues like Tootsie”s Orchid Lounge in Nashville and the Andy Williams Theater in Branson. His musical influences include Led Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers and Doc Watson. Austin has now settled down, focusing his efforts on the operations of Springfield Music and its affiliated companies. Outside of the music store, Austin can be found relaxing at his second home in Cape Fair, slaying Crappie and Bluegill.
