Music lovers of all levels submitted photos and videos to the #loveYOURinstrumentcontest sponsored by Springfield Music in February and March this year, and the winners were announced on April 30.
SPRINGFIELD, MO - Springfield Music launched its first photo and video competition on February 1, 2013 in an effort to give visual representation to the passion of music lovers in the Springfield area. Local musicians voted for their top choices and winners were announced today.
The competition theme, “Love Your Instrument” was met with musical interpretation by 30 local musicians who submitted their entries on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube. A total of four prizes valued at $300 will be distributed to the following winners:
First Place Winner — “Hammon’s Tower Player” by Jenna Burks
Second Place Winner — “Drums on Fire” by Christopher Allen
Third Place Winner — “Seeing Through the Music” by Laren Kelso
Honorable Mention — “Drum Jump” by Daniel Peters
“The first event of its kind was a success,” said Angela Frizell, marketing director. “In fact, the event has been added to our calendar for next year, and we hope to make it an annual event.”
